I think I would go into a brothel just to see if it is like the movies portray it. Unfortunately I doubt they’d be dressed in corsets. :)

Good question. In real life, I don’t think I would visit a brothel. I would be too worried that the people who worked there didn’t choose their career with complete freedom, whether they felt that way or not.
I find brothels a fascinating setting for historical fiction, though.
Now this is a fantasy…What a titillating idea..and how many of us would have the courage to enter this establishment and participate!

I probably would only visit as a matter of curiosity.I’ve read quite a bit over the years from the “soiled doves” of the Old West to the Chicken Ranch of today.Interesting to say the least.
If I could visit a brothel, then I would. I have this idea of how it would be set up and how it should be set up. I would like to see if which of those ideas pan out and which ones don’t. Actually, it would be interesting to see a few different brothels to compare atmospheres, decor, etc.

I don’t think I’d ever get a better chance to test that out. Do they allow that at brothels??

I guess I would say I would visit…the decor and setting etc just sound intriguing the way they’re described in a lot of books so would just like to site see, take notes, and compare… just to curious for my own good I guess ;).

Glad you all dropped by to enter Shelli’s contest. I didn’t even know she was giving away my book until she told me this morning, the cheeky girl.
I had such fun writing this book, partly because I enjoyed imagining the Red Door. I think you’ll really love the first scene where the place is described. It’s very different…and hot (or so I like to think).
Cathie, thanks for asking about what’s next. Unfortunately, my deal with Kensington was only for the one book and they chose not to make an offer for my option book proposal. My agent recently sent out another project, but none of the editors who read it loved it enough to offer for it. We have one more proposal to send out (as soon as I can nail down the synopsis), but it’s a pretty unusual setting and story (a Prohibition Era romantic suspense–I think of it as Dashiell Hammett crossed with a very hot romance), so it’s only going to a limited number of editors/houses. We’ll see if anyone picks it up.
If not, then it’s back to the drawing board. But thanks for asking!

I just wanted to say hi to Jackie. This is a wonderful anthology. Love erotic historicals, not enough of them are published in my opinion.
And yes I would visit a brothel. My BFF and I have been discussing visiting a brothel for years. Maybe one day we will get enough guts to do it!
