Well with the Emerald City Writers’ Conference coming up, the Naughty and Spice girls decided to donate a raffle basket. The proceeds of the basket basically raise a good amount of money for our chapter funds. Knowing this–and being president–I wanted to have a basket that would probably bring in a lot of tickets.

Soo…I asked the girls for books and money. The money we pooled together and bought a sterling silver Tiffany & CO necklace. Check out this basket (basket is not yet complete, but close!). Tell me, would you put in tickets? Or if you’re coming to the conference, will you? And by the way, it’s not too late to sign up for conference!

Oh, and because I had tiny bit of money left over after my first advance, I decided to buy myself something to always remember my first NY sale. Usually, I’m not one to get all jewelry giddy, but this fit my personality and it’s a symbol of the novels I write. So I wear it with the heart facing away from my body, because I’m told that’s how somebody knows your heart is not taken…quaint, huh?

So I went to the doctor on my back, she thinks it’s sciatica. I’m not so sure. But I got muscle relaxers, and I must admit, they make ya relaxed…and then some. We’ll see how I do over the next couple weeks.

And my allergies are still going nuts. I mentioned that to my doc and she said the fall allergies are starting up now. Whaaaat? Fall allergies? I never had them before. Sigh. Is this the getting old thing? And I have to say I gave up on that raw honey stuff. That stuff was just too nasty. Seriously, it tasted okay, but you need a chainsaw to cut into it. Eck. Plus too much sugar and it was too expensive.

On a good note, I’m getting used to my Apple Macbook. Seriously. Anytime I think there’s not a way to do something like I did on a PC, I just google it. They make you work for it though, man. What I do love is the speed on this thing. It turns on fast, shuts down fast. No viruses (ever supposedly). And it doesn’t get as hot as a PC, and it’s lighter…there’s a lot of perks.

I’m almost done with the Sexy Beast novella and loving it! It’s plot heavy, but hot. Though if you look at my history of novellas and stories, most of them have big old fun plots. I guess I just get bored if there’s no conflict besides with the relationship. So hopefully with this book I pull it off! If not, we tweak.

All right, off again! Oh wait! Great news! I weighed myself at the doc (don’t you hate how they do that part?) after I hadn’t weighed myself all summer. I haven’t worked out since mid July, and now with my back I’m taking it easy. I thought I’d be up at least five pounds. I’m DOWN 3! So a total of 25lbs since last September. About a year. Really slow to come off, but none has come back.

What I’ve been listening to all weekend: Stupid Girl by Garbage.

I’m over at Naughty and Spice divulging who I’m willing to become a Mrs. Robinson over. Drop on by!

And it’s not who you’re thinking! Come visit http://www.naughty-and-spice.com/ where Delilah Marvelle is guest blogging. This is truly a fascinating post–you don’t wanna miss it!

Well…it was an interesting Labor Day weekend. As you may have known from my previous posts over at Naughty and Spice, my computer was on its last legs and I was debating which new one to get. I’d been backing up some of my work, getting ready to transfer it to a new computer once I got it. Well…yesterday fate forced my hand. Or my daughter did. While I took a bath, my daughter spilled water on my laptop. By the time I got to it my monitor had pretty green and white stripes. And then a second later the computer just died.

Now, I went screaming to the Romance Divas for advice, but unfortunately before they could reply I decided to try and fiddle with my laptop myself. I kept trying to turn it on. Again and again. After I read the Diva advice, I learned that maybe letting it dry out and not touching it for two weeks could have saved it. I see a call to the Geek Squad (or similar folks) in my future because… the eek news…I hadn’t backed up everything on my hard drive. I backed up a good amount of my books/writing…but not all. And I backed up nothing besides my books. Nothing. Let this be a wake up call for all you folks like me…in denial that it won’t happen. That you have time to back it up. You don’t always! Now I will self flog ::whenaproblemcomesalong::

The good news was I’d been writing a ton on the Sexy Beast book (almost half way done!) and I’d emailed myself the newest version about 3 hours before the computer went kaput. So I only lost a tiny bit.

I keep getting the urge to hit the power button on the laptop, see if maybe this time will be different. Then I talk myself out of it.

Oh wait! There’s more good news ::guitarhero::  There’s a new laptop in the house!  I immediately went out and bought a Macbook! I’m a Mac virgin, so I have to say the first 24 hours have been very ::whattha?:: How come nobody told me there’d be no right click!? I’m sure it gets better…I’ve been told it does.

So that’s my weekend in a nutshell. Oh, and I threw out my back and painted my daughter’s room bright pink. Not sure if the first was an effect of the latter ::workit::
