Fortune Cookie Thursday!

“Look with favor upon a bold beginning coming this year!”

Hmm…it’s too early to try and interpret that. Even if I got it yesterday at lunch. :)

So I know it’s a wee bit wrong of me, but I kind of love TMZ.com or People.com (but I’m not alone, Karen does too! And I’ll totally call her out on it!) So these past couple of days of course my jaw has been on the floor. Little Jammie Lynn Spears prego? But how!? (Okay, not really how, I know the how).

Anyway, I do have to snicker a bit that Lynne Spears apparently sold a book on parenting. And I quote, “…her publisher announced that her book - about being a mom, no less, and due on Mother’s Day - was on indefinite hold.” BIG surprise. Umm, not really.

Okay, now that I’ve indulged in my moment of Hollywood gossip–and dragged you along for the ride–I’ll move onto other things.

Like how much fun I had at the Samhain holiday party last night! It was a blast, and I got to know a lot more of my fellow Samhain authors and readers!

All right, off to walk the kid to pre-school. Last night was a big old slumber party with her cousins and everyone stayed up waaay too late. So crankiness is running rampant this morning.

Flashback Tuesday

Remember wearing those really big shirts over stretch pants? And you’d tie it in a knot or use one of these suckers. The shirt clip? I used them. I totally confess. I think this is actually a modern picture with some random goth girl, so I’m guessing these clips are about to make a return. Fabulous!

So today Kristen Painter told all the Divas about a holiday party at The Knight Agency website, and hinted there would be fun, craziness and prizes. So I went! And it WAS crazy! Crazy fun! AND I was one of the winners–squee!–and the TKA Santa gave me the gift of a few YA novels soon to be mailed to my door!! I’m so excited :) I’ve been meaning to read more YA and have contemplated even writing one…some day…some how…we’ll find–wow, sorry, almost busted out into West Side story.

On another note…it’s official. As of Monday I have been voted in as the 2008 President of the Greater Seattle Chapter of the Romance Writers of America.

Okay, so it doesn’t come with a cool house or anything, but it’s still a pretty prestigious job and I’m excited to step up to the plate as leader of the Seattle chapter.

And on another sweet note, I just received my statement from Cobblestone Press and it also included my Fictionwise sales for my book The Pirate’s Booty . All I have to say is THANK YOU to all who bought the book, and y’all must really love stories with a pirate theme :) I hope you enjoyed the story! *Hugs*

Have a happy Tuesday!

Come visit me at Naughty and Spice where I’m discussing the 80’s flick I just watched again, for the first time in years…that pretty much just weirded me the heck out. :)

Favorite Movie Lines Sunday

Another one of my favorite romance movies, that I just adore, is French Kiss. It was hard picking a ‘favorite’ line from that movie, so I picked two…

“I hate Paris in the springtime/I hate Paris in the fall/I hate Paris in the summer when it sizzles/I hate Paris in the winter when it drizzles/I hate Paris, oh why oh why do I hate Paris?/Because my love is there… with his SLUT girlfriend.”

“I like you. But I don’t like the way you say with your face all scrunched up, “you’re French, aren’t you?” And then I don’t like how you say, with your eyes all squinty, “all men are bastards.”"

So today I’m off to my friend’s house for a ‘Second Thanksgiving’ they call it. Usually it’s the week after T-day or so, but it must have gotten delayed this year. I’m excited, I’ll get to see friends I don’t see much. I’m baking mini pumpkin gingerbread loaves for them. :) And mini little smokies in a blanket. I don’t eat th smokies but I know they love them. I just can’t eat any sausage stuff. Grosses me out. Bleh. So it’ll be a fun day out today!

Plus we’ll all be watching the Seahawk game I’m sure. Go hawks!!!!!!

So our RWA chapter takes on a charity to support, and the past few years we’ve worked with the domestic abuse women’s network. We collect donations and write a check from part of the proceeds of our book fair at ECWC (conference). So today I drove down to drop off all the stuff with my daughter. Since it’s a bit of a drive, I bribed the kid with lunch out at the Rain Forest Cafe. She’s never been there, and I hadn’t been in years.

Now, it never occurred to me that it may be a scary place for younger kids. I figure it would be fun and enchanting. I totally forgot that the gorillas and elephants like move around, shake cages, and the lights flicker and there’s thunder. I think I scared the snot out of my kid. She had her hands over her ears the whole time (she does that when she’s scared) and barely ate. Other kids her age had similar reactions. From screaming with wide eyes, and trying to run out of the restaurant. But Emma still enjoyed it, somewhat. She talked about it once we left. Hmm. Who knew. Best give that another year or two.

So did you know that right now you can download a free copy of the Cobblestone Quarterly? With articles and stories from the friends you know and love! Check it out!

Fortune Cookie Thursday

“You create your own stage and your audience is waiting.”

So is this a sign I need to open my own e-pub? Heh. No, I’m happy with the ones I’m at, thank you very much!

Or it could mean, as my web designer Elle says, that my audience is waiting for my new website. That’s right, it won’t be long before I have a new one! Elle has shown me a mock up of what mine may look like, and I’m pretty darn excited! It’s exactly what I was hoping for.

For those who love my half naked man site, I must ask you to say Au revoir soon. So oggle his man boobs and the V into his jeans while you still can, because he will soon be gone. I must confess, this new site will be a little more simple and little more ‘me’. Not that I don’t like man boobs and the lower V, don’t get me wrong…they’re great. I’ve just decided it’s time for a new look. :) One without a man out front.

Besides, come to think of it…I think I’m more a shoulder/arm girl anyway. And I perused some pics to find a little treat for you folks today. Mmm.

Random fact Wednesday

Drinking 16 ounces of ice water burns 17.5 Calories to warm the water to body temperature.

I’m done with my Christmas shopping! Yaaaay! And I didn’t gain any weight despite eating terrible on Monday night! I didn’t lose any either, but oh well :)

I’m officially boring today, and stressed out over some tests my daughter is being put through at her school to make sure she isn’t delayed. She passed everything but the fine motor skills. Apparently I should have given her scissors to play with awhile ago (she just turned 4). Whaaat? Really? And here I thought I was just being a safe mom. Ah well.

So short and sweet today. Have a great hump day!

Flash back Tuesday

Banana clips! Do you remember those saucy little hair accessories from the 1980’s? This is one fashion trend that I confess to wearing. I had hair with personality (eer, well that’s what my mom always said) and the banana clip knew how to tame it.

How cool was it that you could pull all your hair back into a clip, and have it shoot out the back of your head in a vertical fountain of Vidal Sassooned tresses?

So how about you? Did you wear them? Were you alive? Did you have hair in the 80’s?
