So let’s talk about how slow Shelli can be. Apparently there’s this thing called a Google Reader? What? Yeah? Really? You mean I don’t have to try and fit in three hours a day to blog hop and find out who might have blogged something new? WOW! FREAKING WOW!

I’m in love. I figured Google Reader out, and I’m in love. It’s so easy and convenient! In case there are others like me who out there, you should really do it! Here’s the link. So as for me, it should mean I’ll be a much better blog hopper again. *Happy Dance*

So I took the kid in for her 4 year old well child check up yesterday, and wow. That was so traumatic. For us both! Three shots! AND a finger poke! Blood and needles everywhere. She looked at me like Mommy, why?! Why are you holding me down so she can stab me with those things!!!!? Gahd I’m getting teary again just thinking about it. I swear, I don’t know how I ever lasted for awhile in the medical field. But the kid’s a trouper. She got through with snazzy band aids, and an ice cream cone after.

So if you haven’t heard, Lillian Feisty (our Naughty and Spice girl!) just signed with Roberta Brown from the Brown Literary Agency. So drop by her blog and congratulate her! (Only if you really want!)

In true Feisty fashion….

I just received my cover for Dangerous Grounds, and am thrilled!! This book won first place in the contemporary category of the Stroke of Midnight contest (a couple contests back). It releases in ebook format (then later in print) from Samhain Publishing January 1st, 2008. Here’s a glimpse and my first author quote from the fabulous Lauren Dane.

Something’s hot in Seattle, and it’s not just the espresso.

Madison’s needs are simple. All she wants are two things: Make Ooo La Latté the newest trend in espresso, and seduce the sexiest cop in Seattle. But things aren’t going exactly as planned.

First, Gabe’s a little hung up on the fact that she’s his best friend’s little sister, and he’s determined to keep his hands off. Second, her shop gets robbed by the increasingly violent Espresso Bandit, and now she’s the only one who can identify him.

Gabe whisks her into hiding for her own protection, but soon finds his heart is under assault by the luscious—and persistent—Madison. But no matter where they hide, danger follows.

On such dangerous grounds, the trick will be to live long enough to keep the flame alive.

“Shelli Steven’s Dangerous Grounds is one sexy read! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite themes and in Dangerous Grounds Stevens gives us a mouthwateringly masculine and sexy hero who’ll protect the heroine with his own life. Wonderful sexual tension, witty dialog and a well written suspense backstory team up to give readers a thrilling ride.” Lauren Dane, author of Samhain’s Chase brothers series.

So this morning I woke up, knowing I was going to take the kid and meet my friend for coffee at Starbucks. I decided it’d probably be best to take a shower, but never even considered putting on makeup. That’s me. The makeup only comes out for conferences or maybe any given day I decide to ‘make an effort’. Hmm. Let’s just say it’s not that often.

Anyway, we’re sitting at Starbucks, my kid’s acing like a little monkey on steroids, but over all it’s enjoyable. And, blissful sigh, I have my coffee. Well, I’m chatting away with my friend, when I look up and that little alarm in my head goes off. That Woot, Woot, Firemen in the building alarm. I drop my gaze, spin my chair away and give them my back. Because I will not be caught drooling and looking like arse in front of them. Again.

So we’re still chatting away when I see movement out of the corner of my eyes. Then a nice hand, a fireman hand, slides past me and my coffee. “Here’s a firefighter tattoo for you,” he tells the kid. “Maybe your mom can help you put it on later.” And just like that, I’m forced to interact with the fireman. Oh, but wait, not fireman, firemen. Because all his friend sidle over to join in the discussion. And my daughter, already a flirt, happily replies, “I have Hello Kitty tattoos at home.” And my friend, all cute and girly, chats along as well. I, being the forgot-how-to-interact -with-men chick I’ve become, avoid all eye contact and attempt to make witty responses. Key word, attempt.

I’ve blogged about this before. I always run into the fireman or sexy guys on the days I look like arse. ALWAYS. And just because it drives me so nuts, I’ll purposely show up the next morning at the same time made up to the hilt only to find the Scrabble group and such. I honestly believe its the law of nature that I not be allowed to look good in front of one. Sigh. But it’s also inspired me to break down and use a fireman as the hero in one of my books.

Yaay! Another good review :) Reviews seem to come in bunches. For months, nothing. Then bam! like five in a month!

This one is for Dating Season, the first book in the Seasons of Change series out at Cobblestone Press. Thanks, Talia at Joyfully Reviewed for the wonderful review!

“I loved this book. Shelli Stevens has captured the essence of a woman scared to take a chance on a man who she sees as having a dangerous job…Dating Season was delightful. I shivered in anticipation of the love scenes, and sat on the edge of my seat when it was time for the antagonist to make an appearance. Shelli Stevens gets a thumbs up for this one!” Joyfully Reviewed

Now for a fun quiz… Are you an Alpha Female? Here’s my result!

You Have Many Alpha Tendencies

You’re not a total alpha female, but you certainly know how to – and like to – get your way.

You’re forceful without being intimidating. You’re confident without being vain. A perfect mix.

So can I just say how excited I am? Remember my Heiress book? Well, I decided to have a critique done on it from someone who writes light stuff too. I have my normal group I send to, but they’re good with my spicier books. So I wanted to branch out and I found her. Now I’m not gonna say who, in case she doesn’t want to be outed, but I pretty much fall to the ground screaming I’m not worthy when I read her stuff.

Well, she sent me back my critique and I almost cried. But, they were GOOD tears! She was so supportive, had great advice on a few points in the book I’d been wondering about, and was full of compliments. One of my favorite’s being: “Probably one of the funniest things I’ve read in months. I really, really liked it.”

So now, with some feedback on that book, I’m feeling pretty good about it. Well, okay, great, since I felt good about it before! Anyway, I just had to share that with you since I really love this book and hope it goes far.

On another, or should I say a mother note, can someone tell me if four is the new two? Because my daughter is getting into SO much mischievous lately. OMG. Like her new favorite phrase is, “Mommy, don’t go look at what I’m doing.” I just hear those words and break into a run, because she’ll grab my leg and try to stop me. I always find like puddles of soap in the bathroom from when she’s bathing her toys with q-tips and apple foam soap, or there’ll be glitter on the walls of her playroom. *Groan* What’s going on???

All right, sorry I haven’t blogged really since last week. I’m coming down from like five days of birthday partying for the kid. She’s officially four!!! She had her friend party on Sunday and family stuff earlier. And today we went to see The Bee movie and loved it! We were able to stay for the whole thing! (The first movie we went to we only made it halfway through.) Though there were a couple of bathroom breaks.

So I’m still doing Sven, and doing him mighty well might I say. I’ve realized something about myself. I may want to write light hearted, not as much sex contemporaries every now and then, but I’m not ready to cut myself off of the hotter romance either. I had finished the Heiress book and was debating what to write next and suddenly I had the urge to write hot again. Then I remembered Taken, a book I’d started and put aside awhile ago. Another one of my usual contemporary spicy stuff. I opened it up to see if it was worth finishing and I loved it! Couldn’t figure out why I’d ever put it down. I think I put it down to finish the Heiress, actually. So for now, that’s my current WIP and I’m having a lot of fun with it!

So you know my group blog Naughty and Spice, right? Well, the girls and I have been talking and, well, we’ve got some interesting ideas running through our heads right now. Big ideas. And that’s probably more than I should say…. :) But be on the look out!
