So I’m doing the Seventy days of Sweat again. Anyone else? I tried to do it over the summer and completely went off kilter. I worked on/finished different projects than I said I would. But this time I’m going full out and committing to what I said I’d do. I said I’d finish one book and was completely ambiguous about the second project I’d start (because it can change at the drop of an email!)
Today was day one with Sven dominating my life, and how did I do? Well… I wrote about 3.5k and I liked it. I kept thinking, well I could stop now, since I hit the minimum. But why? Add into the fact that I had a challenge going in the evening, and I was cruising. Oh. And I really, really, wanted to hit that 80k mark on my book Heiress under Covers. And I did! *Dancing around and screaming*
Okay, onto other exciting things! So on January 1st (yes New Years day!) I have my second book with Samhain coming out. (And I have a feeling it’ll be on the coming soon page any day now!) It’s called Dangerous Grounds and it’s actually part of two books that are loosely connected that take place in Seattle. I’m going to give you a little peek at the blurb for Dangerous Grounds…and the fabulous author quote I just received today!
Something’s hot in Seattle, and it’s not just the espresso.
Good coffee and hot seduction are the ways to this woman’s heart. But a violent robbery puts her on dangerous grounds.
Blurb:
Madison’s needs are simple. All she wants are two things: Make Ooo La Latté the newest trend in espresso, and seduce the sexiest cop in Seattle. But things aren’t going exactly as planned.
First, Gabe’s a little hung up on the fact that she’s his best friend’s little sister, and he’s determined to be keep his hands off. Second, her shop gets robbed by the increasingly violent Espresso Bandit, and now she’s the only one who can identify him.
Gabe whisks her into hiding for her own protection, but soon finds his heart is under assault by the luscious—and persistent—Madison. But no matter where they hide, danger follows.
On such dangerous grounds, the trick will be to live long enough to keep the flame alive.
And I’m soooo excited that I’ll have an author quote from one of my fave writers, the fabulous Lauren Dane.
“Shelli Steven’s Dangerous Grounds is one sexy read! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite themes and in Dangerous Grounds Stevens gives us a mouthwateringly masculine and sexy hero who’ll protect the heroine with his own life. Wonderful sexual tension, witty dialog and a well written suspense backstory team up to give readers a thrilling ride.”
So look for more on Dangerous Grounds in the future!
And now I’m off to bed. Cause, wowsers, am I sleepy. Sort of. I’m a little pumped up, too. But alas, with pre-school for the kid it will be an early and busy morning.

congrats on your wordcount. Me not so much :( a bug just flew by and me and hubby have been sick. But at least I got 870 done yesterday – today isn’t the best either. *sigh* I’m hoping I’ll pick up soon
Oh my god! That cat is the funniest thing I’ve ever scene!!!
Big congrats on the author quote! How cool is that?
Yay on wordcount and aw, you’re very sweet. We’re release day buddies, did you know that?
Way to go on the awesome word count! I got 1000 words yesterday and 1200 today. I’m happy with that. At least I’m writing.
Can’t wait to get my paws on Dangerous Grounds. I love friends to lovers stories:)
Jodie that’s still a good word count! And it’s so hard when you’re sick, so don’t sweat it. Or do, as Sven says :P
Samantha, I love that cat!!
Lauren, I didn’t know!! We have the same release day?! That’s too cool!
Ava, you sound like you’re kicking major booty too! Keep it up!!! Me too :)
None on Monday, 1,120 on Tuesday and 625 by lunch time Wednesday (I’ve nicked home from work). Maybe I’ll get some more done tonight. Good luck Shelli and everyone else! Write up a storm!
Way to go on your wordcount and that fabulous author quote!
And I love the couch potato cat!
That’s great you’re doing the writing challenge – I did it during the summer and it definitely kept me focused. I decided not to do it this time because almost finished with one I worked on during summer and want to pitch it before starting my new book.
Congrats on your Jan. release – love the blurb. Danger and romance – a combination I enjoy reading!
Thanks for your reply at the author loop about word count. I thought I had a great deal more with the 250 words a page count but checked computer word count and is much lower.
