Well, did I get the best news yesterday or what!? Samhain Publishing just got notification that they are now an RWA approved publisher. So having sold my full length book to Samhain a few weeks back, I am now ‘officially recognized’ as an RWA author, and can join PAN! I’m like Peter, baby. I’m gonna be PAN!
On another note. I’ve decided that every once in awhile I’ll buy a consumer product, test it, and
give my opinion. I just decided this now– as I was typing this post. Because the other day I was grammasitting and we were shopping around the aisles at a drug store and I came across this do it yourself waxing kit (see pic to left) And I started to think…hmmm. I’ve never done it myself before. I always pay to get my eyebrows waxed, but I’ve never done my upper lip. Sure, it’s light colored peach fuzz, but I know it’s there and we don’t get along. And seeing as the kit was 25% off, I decided I’d buy it, do it, and blog about my first at home waxing experience.

It was relatively easy, once I cut the tube of wax open, because wax does not squeeze out of a tube. I just microwaved the wax on a stick, smeared it on my upper lip, laid down the strips…..then yanked! Not so bad. I’m not one who feels the ‘waxing pain’ just a bit of Oh yeah! Hit me again! rush. And afterwards… smooth upper lip with a pleasant, lavender smell. TOTALLY recommend it. Two thumbs up.
Now onto writing. Why is it, when I have 3k–3k!!!–until the end of my book, I completely freeze and can’t finish it? This has never been a problem for me before. Never. I usually fly through the end. I know part of it was I had no idea what kind of weapon people would use in the future, but after brainstorming with Deanna we came up with a fabulous one! Very primitive yet new age. Now, I just need to go write. And I think I’m going to do that now, seeing as my kid just went for a walk with the grandparents.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I completely undersand the freezing when you see the finish line part. Just did that, and yu know what> I’m happy I did because I thought of a new twist and went back and added it in. then I was able to wrap up tighter and with more emotional impact.
Well, at least that’s what I thought.
Sigh. I’ve got 6,000 to go. I want a good few days with nothing in my life but the ability to say at home and write. Not gonna happen this weekend.
Wooo-hoo!
Go Pan!!!
I’ve got sick kids at home and although I *know* what to write, I can’t concentrate. Sniffle.
I tried one of those waxing kits once. I made the mistake of doing my underarm! OUCH!!! I had to just soften the wax and peel it off after the first yank. Now, I’m not brave enough to do any other portion of my body.
Thats great about Samhain!! woohoo girl!
Love the pic, LOL
Congrats on the neverneverland status!!
I’ve waxed just about everywhere but my lip, and I totally get the Oh yeah! bit. Thanks for the product tip (great idea) but I’ve heard that the first time you can get a reaction that lasts a couple days. eek!
LOL! Gotta love that cartoon!
Congrats on the PAN! I’ve been meaning to send in my provisional PAN membership request, but I keep forgetting. See you in the PAN events!
And I totally freeze a few thousand words from the end every time. Then I write it. Then I have to scrap it and write it again for good measure. :P
You liar. You’ve done it yourself lots of times.
Yay on the RWA thing! LI also was given RWA status this earlier this month so we are celebrating with y’all!
Haven’t signed on for the PAN thing yet though.. not sure I’m going to, either.
