| Thirteen ways you can tell Shelli lives in Seattle
1. I must have an iced americano every day 2. I own an umbrella, but have never used it 3. My three year old recognizes Starbucks as easily as McDonalds 4. I can visit hot places (like Mexico) and wish for rain 5. I love rain. I think it’s romantic, soothing, and fun 6. I adore shopping in thrift shops and at garage sales 7. Plastic surgery of any kind seems so Orange County to me 8. We eat salmon often, but usually don’t buy it. We catch our own. 9. I worked three blocks down from the Space Needle for four years 10. I’ve been on more ferryboat rides than airplane rides 11. I drove 2.5 hours to Canada my 19th birthday so I could drink 12. I can take daytrips to Mt. St. Helens, the Ocean, or BFE country. 13. I think men in flannel are super sexy.

I’m a west coast gal too - live, love and write on vancouver island. Could totally relate to everything on your list.
I am about chickens & art this week.
Verrrrrry interesting! I’ve yet to go up and visit Seattle (I’m in northern Cali). I hear the rain can be mesmerizing…Happy Thursday!
I was wondering where the flannel guys hung out. Now I know.
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
My TT is posted.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT’ing!

I love rain, too! and garage sales! I went to seattle, OMG it’s been fourteen years now — anyway, it was beautiful and clear, you could see the mountains. I used to say that Bill Gates ordered that weather special for recruiting. (I was at a developer’s conference) anyway, happy TT, mine’s up!
LUCKY you! I have been there once and LOVED it. I would return in one hot minute.
Fresh fish, rain, men in flannels, and starbucks..whatelse does a girl need in life?
I like rain too. I’ve never found it depressing. To me it means slow down and relax a little.
Dh and I dream of moving out there one day. I think it’s the only other place but the east coast we could live. NYC tends to spoil you with everything at your fingertips and great food! (even in the sticks where I live!)
Men in flannel ARE super sexy! *grin* I think catching your own salmon is so cool… but I hate fish. Can I throw mine back? :)
Selena
I hate rain - best thing about living here, hardly ever rains.
Love your TT and enjoy living here in Seattle myself. Although sometimes I just miss the tropics of Florida, you know?
I love rain, but not too much or too often. And I also own an umbrella I never use. There’s generally too much wind here when it rains for it to be of much use anyway. :D
I wanna go to Seattle! Can I come and visit?? Please??? I’ll buy you an Iced Americano.
:)
Yep on the umbrella thing!
Lol, flannel is sexy!? I’m stealing this and doing the South next week lol. :)
HILARIOUS. I love this…I’m going to do a 13 things about Cleveland soon, I think. Pretty cool learning how things are in Seattle!!
I don’t know that i would call a man sexy in flannel, but I married one that wears a flannel shirt every day. :-)
I will say this for the rain…you end up with a gorgeous green place to live. Other than that? Sorry! I hate the rain. It’s a hair thing!
And I hope we treated you well on your 19th!
LMAO! Great list! Seattle’s a great town.
You gotta love Seattle - of course Vancouver’s very similar so…LOL that you came up here to drink when you were 19!
Great list! I lived in Bremerton for about 4 months and loved it there–so green and gorgeous. We went to Pike’s Place Market only once, alas! Your list brings back lots of memories.
Thanks for visiting my TT!
I’ve always wanted to move from the Long Island Sound to the Puget Sound. I so belong there with you!
Men in flannel ARE sexy! As long as it’s clean flannel.
Hi Shelli,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed your list and I REALLY like rain. Lived in Bermuda for 18 years — we have NO source of freshwater and relied heavily on rain to supply our drinking/bathing/cooking water.
I love rain (in moderation)
I LOVE Starbucks…all the time! I think it’s adorable your little one recognizes it.
Wasn’t Canada AWESOME at 19??? I lived in Buffalo, so my drive was 20 minutes. We went EVERY weekend.
Interesting list, especially since I’ve never been to Seattle…not sure I could survive there because I don’t drink coffee or eat anything from the sea, although I do know not to bother with an umbrella, baseball hat is much easier to work with :-)
I have to totally agree with you Shelli! I live just north of you and I have to say, my favorite day is when it’s pouring rain outside, and I’m nice and cozy inside and typing madly away on my next story. I think you have to love the rain to live in the Northwest.
What a cute list. Living in Louisiana, although from PA originally, can’t really relate to some of it, but cute anyway!
Hey, I’m a published author, too! Nice to meet you. I’ll visit again!
Another Vancouver Islander (not for long though) checking in. All of those sound about right. Especially the kid recognizing Starbucks. He points to the oh so familiar logo as he askes “Mama, do you want a latte?”
“3. My three year old recognizes Starbucks as easily as McDonalds”
LMAO, TOO FUNNY! :) But very writerly of you, I think :D
How cool to see so many people dropping by, and then me getting out to see so many people! I love this Thursday 13. And I have a lot of neighbors to the north it sounds like!
And yes, Julie, Canada was awesome at 19. It seemed so… naughty! LOL.
With my love of water and rain I’d probably fit right in in Seattle - unless, of course, liking coffee is a prerequiste for living there. ;)
I lived in Oregon for years and years and lots of the things you talked about I did there all the time. I miss all the coffee shops every place!! We ate lots of fish too. A little river went right through the middle of our town.
I’d loved to go to Seattle! Maybe next year when I go to the RWA conference in San Francisco. And I love rain. All Australians love rain at the moment. We want more!
I love a man in flannel. I work at Starbucks! I like rain, too.
I am SO jealous of the freshly caught salmon. Yumm-O!
