All right, so that whole weight loss thing I was gung ho about a month ago…or was it two…ok, you so know where I’m going with this. It’s not going so well. I am doing great on the working out front. My friend and I go to the gym maybe 3-5 times a week and do a good, ball-busting-if-I-had-them workout. But the eating? I swear, if it’s not nailed down I’ll eat it. Well, that’s not exactly true either. I’m actually a very picky eater as I mentioned in my post from a couple days ago.

So here’s where I’m going with this. Apparently, I’m not the only one with this eating like sh*t problem. So a few author friends and myself–and no, I will not out them–have come up with a plan. We are starting our own distorted version of a weight loss program. Like instead of W.W. (Weight Watchers) we’ll be B.A.S. (Big Ass Writers). We’ll each put in $2.50 a week to a paypal account, keep each other accountable, and maybe a few weeks before Nationals we’ll check in to see who has lost the most weight/reached their goal. And the winner gets the pot. Not a bad idea, eh?

Speaking of diets and food, ick. Did you hear the Atkins diet has gotten a clean bill of health recently? Ick. Sorry, tried it, can barely eat meat, and you get stinky breath and body odors on it. Anyway here’s the article if you want to read it.

On the writing front, well, I took a couple days to edit and clean up a book for submission to Samhain, and it’s currently in my editor’s hands. Fingers crossed! The sci fi WIP is doing good, I’m on the home stretch and then it’ll be up and off to the crit partners. Then I need to figure out what I want to do with it :) I’m thinking it’ll end up between 70-75k. After the sci fi, I have a book–the first manuscript I ever wrote!–that I want to rework a bit and submit.

All right, off to write. Have a faboo day/night :)

I LOVE the South Beach diet. It really did change the way I eat…althoug now I spend a lot more time in the kitchen. But I hear you on Atkins - the breath thing. Not pleasant.

    Good luck on your submission!

Too bad you and I can’t combine our efforts. I do fine on the eating most days, it’s the working out that stumps me. I say every day that *this* is the day…maybe tomorrow. ;)

Good luck with your submission Shelli!

Sounds like an interesting weight loss plan you guys put together.

I know it’s hard to combine the eating and working out successfully, but once you do it’s great. I mean, sometimes you slip - on both accounts - and that’s alright too. It’s okay to splurge out on yummy stuff that’s not necessarily good for you every now and then.

Maybe the problem is the use of the word diet. That’s such an ugly, ugly word because one does not need to be on a diet to lose weight. I know, because I’ve lost about 20 kilos in the last few years. I’m not on a diet at all, just cut out all the junk - or at least most of it. ;)

    Catch’a later!

I’m with you on hating the Atkins. I was in a Brain Fog when I tried that. I use The Sugar Solution now, and am very happy. Lost alot of weight, and love eating like this.

Your cartoon? Is Bigfoot considered a Paranormal? Cause that dude needs a girlfriend.

The Atkins diet is working for me, but then I love meat. And cheese. Unfortunately, I also love potatoes. I miss potatoes.
    Picture made me laugh hysterically.
Great idea to motivate your weight loss with money. Hope you and the BAW (BAS?) do great.
    Lurrrrrve you honey.

Jill: Thanks for dropping by! My best friend loves the South Beach diet and has lost a ton of weight on it. I love some of the food, but I can’t do all the cooking. LOL.

Samantha: I’ll give you some of mine if you give me some of yours.

Y: You’re so right. A lot of it is about the word diet, and changing your attitude.

Eva: Hmm the sugar solution, I may have to check into that.

Jen: Atkins has some great points. I love cheese. But I don’t eat much meat, so it was really difficult.

Thanks for the wishes of good luck!!! :)
