Oh. My. God. I did it. Somewhere around 11am this morning, I typed the end (for the second time) on my very first novel. Yup. I met the challenge, and edited/rewrote my entire first book–85k–in one week. I’m telling you, I feel like I just ran a marathon or something. I didn’t blog or blog hop, didn’t do the Thursday thirteen, have been absent on forums, didn’t do any reading. My life came to a halt. I did nothing but write. My parents took my kid away for two days, and for those two days I wrote for hours on end. Only stopping to eat.

Ooook. So I’m totally lying. A bit. Yes I wrote a TON. But those two days Emma was gone, wow. I was just so excited to have free days, I made plans. I went out to dinner with friends. And the first day I wrote for an hour in the morning and then went shopping. What did I get? Two pairs of shoes for Nationals! Buy early, pay off sooner, that’s my motto. And actually I got some money for my birthday that I used. I wish I could wear strappy, high heels, but I can’t. So I do wedges or platforms for sexaheel.
I also bought that Bare Minerals stuff for my skin, and even though I’m a little slow when it comes to makeup, I think I’m figuring out how to do it. And I really think my skin looks better. It’s better, for the price :) Anyone who read my Novelty Girls post this week is probably going, yeah yeah I heard all this. But sorry, now I have pics!
So yes, back to the book. It’s done, way better than it was before, and off and subbed to my publisher who said she’d read it tonight. Hopeful she’s thinking it’s as swanky as I do. *Biting nails*
So now I’m off to take the kid to lunch, because she has seriously been getting the short end of the stick in the mommy attention department this week. I’ll be blog hopping again tonight to hear what’s going on in your lives. Have a great weekend!

Dancing in excitement…

So I promised one of my publishers that I would edit/rewrite my very first book before March 31st. It’s 367 pages. Now I love this story, and I know it’s going to be damn good when it’s done. But this book was written six years ago…six! Back when I thought showing and telling was just something that had to do with elementary school. Now, I read a paragraph like this… Lena was feeling an overwhelming sense of romance, so much so that she had that floating sensation she’d always heard about; but she knew at the same time that it was just a sad little illusion. … And I throw up a little in my mouth.

I’ve been going through this manuscript, ripping out scenes like a dentist going wild with extractions in a bad mouth. But, as I work through it (and I’ve done 144 pages in 3 days!), I honestly think this is some of my best work. I really used my humor in this book. (It got nearly perfect scores from 2 judges in the Love and Laughter contest a couple years ago) And every day I edit this, I’m amazed at how far I have come. That all my mistakes might as well be highlighted in yellow, I have no trouble spotting them. Have you ever done this? Revisited your first manuscript?

Anyway, so if you don’t see me around much this week, that’s what I’m doing. On another note, I got a fabulous review on Love for Sale from Joyfully Reviewed. Wanted to share…

“I was so enamored with this Love for Sale that I read it in one sitting, refusing to put it down until I’d finished it. Jessie’s character was remarkable and it was wonderful to see her confidence and her self-image blossom. Josh is just the right mix of bad and good to be absolutely delicious and the love scenes between he and Jessie are as spicy as one could ever hope for. Delicious is the only word that describes this story. Wonderful read!” Tera, Joyfully Reviewed

And finally… since I may not blog the next couple of days, I wanted to share this hilarious clip. Now I must have been off in la la land, but when did SNL (Saturday Night Live) get to be so funny again? The last two weeks I’ve caught parts of the show, and I was literally laughing out loud. :) Here’s a great one from last week with Julia Louis-Dreyfus…. it’s a short clip, and pretty dang funny. Check it out!

So my very first shifter book comes out today! Dating Season is the first book (Spring) in the Seasons of Change series. The other books will be written by Loribelle Hunt (Summer), Sara Dennis (Winter), and Crystal Jordan (Autumn). Here’s a little more about Dating Season

Being raised with three brothers, Jada Lassiter has a habit of getting into trouble. And this time trouble shows up at the shifter resort her family owns in two forms: a sexy werejaguar who’s made it clear he wants her in his bed. And an evil from her past, determined to have revenge.

Antonio Grant is a bounty hunter who came to the exclusive Still Waters resort to track down a criminal. He never expected to find his mate, or to realize her life is in jeopardy by the very man he’s hunting.

Exerpt (HOT! Do not read if you’re offended by sex!:)

She scowled. Damn, that man had gotten under her skin. Antonio. Never had this type of chemistry happened so fast, come on so strong. She’d gone for a run tonight as an excuse to rid him from her mind, to distract herself. Fat lot of good that had done.

Rolling her eyes, she dove underwater. When she surfaced, goose bumps covered her flesh. She froze and sniffed the air. She wasn’t alone. Her gaze darted to the dense grove of trees that lined the lake.

Oh God. Had he followed her? Crossing her arms over her breasts, she sank down in the water.

“Go away! You had no right to follow me.” She scanned the trees, wondering where he was.

Then she saw him, the yellow of his eyes, just before he padded out of the forest. She inhaled sharply. And she’d thought him formidable in human form? As a jaguar he was beautiful, massive, and extremely intimidating.

He approached the edge of the lake, his body shifting with each step. She watched the fur retract and his large shoulders appear. Her gaze moved down the rigid outline of muscles on his stomach, and then lower.

Swallowing hard, she could barely stop her jaw from dropping. His cock was long and thick, and he was only half erect. Heat stirred in her body, and her nipples tightened under her arms.

“This is my spot. You have no right to intrude.” She knew she sounded childish, but with him wading toward her—all human male with a purpose—she went into full-fledged panic mode.

“I didn’t come out tonight with the intention of following you. But when I caught your scent I had no choice.” He shrugged and then dove under the water, swimming in powerful strides toward her.

The urge to flee hit so hard she found herself swimming farther away to put some distance between them. She cried out when he grabbed her around the waist with one arm, pulling her back through the water.

“Jada.” His hot breath tickled the nape of her neck just before he pressed a kiss to the sensitive skin. “I thought I told you not to run from me. That’s twice now you’ve tried to get away from me.”

“Shouldn’t that be a clue that I’m not interested?” She’d meant it to come out witty and flirtatious, but it sounded strangled.

Treading water, he moved one of his hands over her stomach and up her ribcage. “You’re interested, Jada.” His fingers danced on the underside of her breast, which ached for his touch.

“I bet if I touched your nipples right now they’d be tight and sensitive.”
She gritted her teeth. “Don’t tell me I’m going to have to explain the whole cold water, hard nipples theory to you. I’m not interested.”

He moved his finger over her breast to the tip, and she gasped, closing her eyes. Damn my body for being so responsive to him!

He captured the peak between two fingers and squeezed.

“Somehow I doubt they’re hard because of the cold.” He laughed and released her nipple, moving his hand back down her belly. “Or, maybe I’ll check elsewhere to see how not interested you are.”

What a great day to slip into my fourth decade of life! (I’m 30, if you don’t want to think too hard!) Monday I finished my 80k book–in two months which is a record for me! And last night I got halfway through editing it. My lanta, my writing is so much cleaner than it was the last time I wrote a single title (which was almost two years ago! I went on a short story/novella spree!)

I want to thank everyone who voted in my poll from Monday and those who took the time to respond in my comments! Also, all the sweet congratulations you left me yesterday just made my day. So here’s a big, smothering hug!

Now excuse me while I slip into pimp mode….

My good friend Lillian Feisty has her very first release out today! And it just happens to be in the Ellora’s Caveman book Seasons of Seduction. Lillian’s book Dance of the plain Jane is a fabulous story. I can vouch since I got to read it months ago! ;)

Shy Jane Holliday has loved sexy Navy SEAL Michael Sky from afar for over a year, keeping her secret close to her heart. But one night the sultry beat of an exotic drum loosens her inhibitions and empowers her to seduce her dream lover.

It’s the wrong time and place, but the instant Michael spots the veiled dancer weaving her sensual magic he’s stopped dead in his tracks. His hands itch to touch not just the curve of her undulating hips but every spot on her enchanting body.

Who seduces whom isn’t important as Jane’s erotic fantasies are fulfilled by this loving virtual stranger. But waking up alone after revealing her deepest, darkest desire reminds Jane that in the light of day, she can only trust herself. Even that trust is challenged when her inner Goddess demands Jane consider Michael’s seductive offer to bind them together forever.

So pick up the Caveman book! And if you haven’t seen Feisty’s blog, it’s hilarious, check her out. http://www.trashywriter.blogspot.com/

Ooooooooooooooh my lanta, I’m DONE! I completed my erotic romantic sci fi single title!!!

And on another note, I’m at The Novelty Girls today. Don’t forget to take my poll from yesterday’s post!

How was everyone’s St. Patricks Day? Did you drink green beer or eat corned beef and cabbage? I did neither. I don’t eat beef, period. And beer is a luxury I indulge in a few times a year…including at Nationals! Which speaking of……

Wooo whooo!! Yes I’m obviously thrilled *doing a little dance* I emailed my gaurdian angel of writing Cherry Adair to let her know my book will be an RWA recognized sale, and she was just so supportive and thrilled for me. And she’s getting the biggest dedication in my book Dangerous Grounds. *Grin*

I am so close to finishing this sci fi. I know some of you are like: doesn’t she say that every day? But seriously, it keeps getting longer! I’m at 77k! I think I’m going to hit 80k in the end (because I stopped putting chapters in like 3/4 the way through the book!) I’ll finish this book tonight. Unless it decides to keep going. Depending on whether the hero and heroine decide to get it on again. Speaking of, I have a bit of a poll I’d love to get your feeback on!

At the end of a romance, do you need a love scene between Hero and heroine?
As long as they had sex at some point I’m fine.
No. The end is about sweetness and declarations of love.
Yes. I love that last minute bump and grind before I shut the book.

I finished the second book in Pat White’s Blackwell Group series. Loved it. Must get the third. Soon. Tomorrow. Just became my goal :) Well, I’m off to finish my book before it finishes me. And maybe down a few GirlScout cookies from the 8 boxes I bought from my friend’s kid! *Groan*

Well, did I get the best news yesterday or what!? Samhain Publishing just got notification that they are now an RWA approved publisher. So having sold my full length book to Samhain a few weeks back, I am now ‘officially recognized’ as an RWA author, and can join PAN! I’m like Peter, baby. I’m gonna be PAN!

On another note. I’ve decided that every once in awhile I’ll buy a consumer product, test it, and give my opinion. I just decided this now– as I was typing this post. Because the other day I was grammasitting and we were shopping around the aisles at a drug store and I came across this do it yourself waxing kit (see pic to left) And I started to think…hmmm. I’ve never done it myself before. I always pay to get my eyebrows waxed, but I’ve never done my upper lip. Sure, it’s light colored peach fuzz, but I know it’s there and we don’t get along. And seeing as the kit was 25% off, I decided I’d buy it, do it, and blog about my first at home waxing experience.

It was relatively easy, once I cut the tube of wax open, because wax does not squeeze out of a tube. I just microwaved the wax on a stick, smeared it on my upper lip, laid down the strips…..then yanked! Not so bad. I’m not one who feels the ‘waxing pain’ just a bit of Oh yeah! Hit me again! rush. And afterwards… smooth upper lip with a pleasant, lavender smell. TOTALLY recommend it. Two thumbs up.
Now onto writing. Why is it, when I have 3k–3k!!!–until the end of my book, I completely freeze and can’t finish it? This has never been a problem for me before. Never. I usually fly through the end. I know part of it was I had no idea what kind of weapon people would use in the future, but after brainstorming with Deanna we came up with a fabulous one! Very primitive yet new age. Now, I just need to go write. And I think I’m going to do that now, seeing as my kid just went for a walk with the grandparents.

Have a great weekend everyone!
