Today I’m going to mention the stupidiest initiative out there that’s trying to be passed. And, gag, it’s in my state. Here is the gist of it…
OLYMPIA, Wash. - An initiative filed by proponents of same-sex marriage would require heterosexual couples to have kids within three years or else have their marriage annulled.
“For many years, social conservatives have claimed that marriage exists solely for the purpose of procreation … The time has come for these conservatives to be dosed with their own medicine,” said WA-DOMA organizer Gregory Gadow in a printed statement. “If same-sex couples should be barred from marriage because they can not have children together, it follows that all couples who cannot or will not have children together should equally be barred from marriage.”
Okaaaay, how much money and time is going into an initiative that’s completely ludicrous? I can see their point, really I can. But the way they’re going about this is just stupid. The people who started this initiative should be banned from having children period–stop the blood line of idiots.
Anyway, off politics… I’ve been doing my 1k a day with my sci fi and have hit the 25k mark, meaning I completed my Book In A Month with a week to spare. But I’m not done, I’m making this book 40k+. I’ve got a counter in my sidebar to keep me accountable. So…go, go, go!
I want to also mention a great new place to hang out and get resources/research information for your books. It’s the new forum Cobblestone Press has started. I’ve grown addicted to it. Check it out, you can be a visitor, or you can sign up and participate. Here’s the link: http://www.cobblestone-mainstreet.com/
All right, nothing much more interesting to say. Oh, I will say my book Love for Sale comes out on the Valentine’s Day. I’m super excited for this book, I love it, and hope those who read it do too. I’ll be posting excerpts next week closer to the release.
Have a great hump day! I’m not about the sexy men images…or, maybe you consider this sexy. *Grin*

Well, shoot. I’m less than a month away from my 3rd anniversary, so I’d say it’s a medical certainty that we won’t be having kids within 3 years.
Guess we better get an annulment.
Dambasses. And to be honest, I’m a proponent of same sex marriage. But I’m certainly not a proponent of this initiative. Way to win support for your cause, people!
I heard about this on some talk show while I was in the car.
Laughed. My. #$$. Off.
I mean, c’mon!
The scary thing is…more than one person agreed this was/is a good idea!
As I understand it, the reasoning behind the initiative is to make the dumbfucks who insist that marriage is for procreation (and thus, same-sex marriage should be illegal) stop and think. Moreso, to make the people who agree with that statement as a default (because they’re “moderate,” “conservative,” or whatever) stop and think.
I can kinda see where they’re coming from with it, but I would be VERY surprised if it actually has the outcome that they’re thinking. Most people aren’t going to get it.
No comment on the politics.
Yayyyyyy on the word count. You’re kicking a** and taking names.
I can’t wait for “Love For Sale” to come out either.
AND that picture is hilarious.
OMG that picture cracks me up! Way to go on the word count. GO! GO! GO!
Yeah, I realize why they’re doing it, to make a point. And really, it’s a good point. But the fact that I know this is costing money and time, it totally overshadows the issue.
Thanks everyone for the congrats on the word count :D
I guess the point was draw attention to the issue… which they certainly did.. chalk 1 up for them, methinks.
Stupid though, all the same.
That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard…
Congrats on the writing - keep going Shell! You can DO IT! :)
Congrats on the writing. I’ve been kicking butt too!!
That picture cracks me up! I love it. Congrats on those writing goals being reached!
Yeah, obviously the point was to make people stop and think, but to be honest, I don’t think that’s what will happen. It’ll just make people think they’re stupid and probably turn a lot of people off of their movement. Probably would turn off more people than it would turn on. (OK, turn on is obviously not the word I’m looking for…I don’t mean it in a kinky sense.)
Really, I don’t think this is the way to go about it, although I 100% support the ultimate cause
