It’s Friday fun day! Well, not really. Nothing utterly exciting to blog about.

I went to Weight Watchers. I’m telling you… I did good this week. And I almost blew it last night. The night before I weigh in. *shakes head* I ate almost half of a baugette! However you spell that. With olive oil and vinegar to dip it in. Mmmm. So I freaked out a bit and took a water pill. Total diuretic. But I also danced a bundle last night. My two nieces spent the night and we got way too hyper. So I think I burned off most of it. But the point is, I lost three pounds! I’ll admit 1lb was probably due to the pill :) I won’t make it a habit! I promise!

So the chat at Cobblestone Press went awesome tonight. We had 32 people at one point, and 40 different people drop in through out. That’s amazing for a publisher that hasn’t even gotten off the ground yet. Thanks for everyone who dropped by. And if you missed it, we have another one next Friday at The Pink Posse and at Cobblestone Press. One week. One week!!!

I’m a terrible mom. My daughter is 2 1/2 and has never had a hair cut. She’s a bit like me, curly hair, but not as curly. Like it could possibly be straight if she blow drys it or something. Unlike me who always looks like a poodle with a bad hair day. So with Emma Rose, I usually just brush her hair with a soft bristle brush. It flattens it okay, but doesn’t really do a number on the knots. Well…during her bath I noticed she was getting–oh—dreadlocks. So I realized I’d have to get out the comb…

OH THE TEARS! The crying of ‘Why mommy, WHY‘ My heart was breaking. And afterwards she just wanted a hug. And I’m thinking I probably oughtta get her a hair cut, before they have to shave her head. Okay it’s not that bad, but close. But her hair is so pretty and long right now! *sigh*

So how old were your kids when you first cut their hair? Or have you yet? Or how about yourself? Do you remember the horror of your first haircut? That’s another reason I put it off, I know it’s going to be drama getting her to sit still with scissors flying at her head.

Okay, I’m off. I got my edits for Pirate’s Booty today :)

Heh. My grandmother bobbed her daughters’ hair every summer, up to chin-length. Of course, my mother’s reaction was to not allow me or my sister to cut our hair because “we’d regret it.”

After about seven years of pleading (I wanted it short when I was eight, because it’s a royal PITA to take care of), I finally threatened to cut it myself when I was fifteen. It was knee-length and impossible to maintain — I have thick hair that is slightly wavy, so it snarls like nobody’s business when it’s long.

I’ve kept it short ever since. Actually ended up cutting it chin-length recently. Not intentionally — I probably should’ve known better than to ask my male to do it. But I rather like it. Should be nice and cool for summer, and is still long enough I can mostly pull it back with a clasp

For detangling Emma … look for a spray-on detangling conditioner. Works wonders. And if your daughter’s hair is a comb-shredder (mine broke so many combs it’s not funny), go to a pet store and look for a steel doggy comb. Those things are nearly indestructible. :)

Sorry, no experience in this :-) Your daughter is a real cutey. And congrats on the weight loss. I’m still thinking about the jeans that I had to throw away this week. I didn’t have a single glass of wine tonight!

Oh Shelli! She’s soooo cute! Yes, I remember giving haircuts to my boys. I did it myself. Unlike a girls hair, boys are a little easier. But I try and keep it short. Some of their haircuts have been AWFUL. When done by professionals, it usually involves hissy fits and rebellion. *Sigh*. I want to just shave their heads, but Joe doesn’t like that idea.
She really is adorable. She looks a lot like you, Chica.

Your Emma Rose is precious! And she looks so much like you.

My daughter had her first hair cut by me at almost 2. She was good. Then we took her to a professional at 2 1/2, she FREAKED OUT. Cries when we tell her she has to get a hair cut. One night, just out of the bath, I snuck some scissors in and went ’snip snip’ straight across the back. Not the best looking haircut in the world but at least it doesn’t look so straggly at the ends. And the knots she would get, oh my!!!!!

My boys were both around the 1 year mark but their hair is so fair. The best part is that our neighbor is a hairdresser and comes over to our house every four-six weeks for family hair cuts. Love it!

Bye the way, what a cutie daughter you have!

    Congrats on the loss!

Emma Rose is a cutie. It’s all in the name, ya know? lol ;)

Lemme think. My girls didn’t get a first hair cut until they were about 4. They didn’t really have hair until then lol. The Boy was about 2. He gets his hair cut at the barber on post once a month.

The girls and I have pretty long hair. I trim theirs every few months, but I don’t let anyone else touch it. Have you tried cholesterol to condition? We use it about once a month. It’ll be really greasy for a couple days, but once it washes it out completely it’s awesome stuff!

I’ve only cut mias fringe. I remember my mum always cut my hair and to this day I remember being teased at school being called egg-head because mum had literally cut off ALL my fringe.

That little girl is a DOLL!!!

My FB chat lasted 2 1/2 hours last night!

Thanks everyone for the stories and suggestions. Nonny I think I’m that way with Emma cause my mom chopped my hair too much as a kid! Now i’m anti short hair, lol! :)

Maybe I should cut her hair though and give her some cute bang. *sigh*

Oh gosh! Emma is so adorable!!! Rune just turned a year old and he’s had his hair cut twice. You don’t have to cut Emma’s hair so much as trim it. The ends get a fuzzy rexture after a while on kids. It might help to buy some of that Johnson’s baby detangler. (Walmart, for about $2) It comes in a spray bottle and you squirt it on her hair and a comb will slip right through. I use it on my own hair–a veritable rat’s nest. It’s a life saver!

Congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up!

I hear you can go for many years and not cut a childs hair.. it just doesn’t get split ends or need a cut… you can just use a spray leave in conditioner.. her hair is so fine you shouldn’t have a problem.
